An African American woman has spoken out after she and a group of friends were allegedly profiled while dining at The Crosby in Montclair, New Jersey. It’s understood the whole drama was over durags and headscarf.
According to Twitter user @ninoshkka16, they were booted out when they challenged the New Jersey bar’s racist dress code policy after the manager said headgear is against bar policy. Not wanting to be bullied out, @ninoshkka quickly pointed out that there were plenty of folks at the bar who had on hats and other head pieces. In the clip, the lady is seen engaging the man in a war of words after he threatened to get the bouncers to escort them out.
Initially, the manager tried to prove that he wasn’t racist by saying he had “plenty of Black’ friends. However, when their dress code policy was questioned, the manager became even more aggressive.
The young woman said eventually, “3 big a** white security” guards came over and intimidated them into leaving the restaurant.
“We did not deserve to be treated like this,” she wrote. “No black body deserves to be treated like this. Not surprising but absolutely disgusting.”
