Finally, Jose Mourinho Sacked By Manchester United, Michael Carrick Will Take Over For 2 Days Before External Manager Takes Charge For The Rest Of The Season
Struggling Jose Mourinho Sacked By Manchester United
Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Manchester United following their disappointing start to the season. A statement from the club said:
“Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect. The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.
“A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.
Mourinho showed signs of being a dead man walking when he complained about the club not backing him in the transfer market. Apart from that, he fell out with key players like Paul Pogba and club captain Antonio Valencia being forced to apologise for ‘liking’ an Instagram post calling for his sack.
The former Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid manager had hoped to stay at United for 15 years but lasted a little over 2. Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward was even determined to give his manager time to turn United’s fortunes around.
It’s understood Michael Carrick will be acting capacity for the next two days before an external manager takes over for the rest of the season.
