#PrayForNigeria: Celebrities React To Otedola Bridge Fire
At around 6.05p.m. yesterday, a fully-loaded 33,000-litre fuel tanker exploded on Otedola Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway killing nothing less than 10 people and fire razing about 67 vehicles, according to Vanguard. It’s understood the fuel-laden tanker, which was heading inwards Berger, had a brake failure. It was when the driver was trying to control the tanker, that it reportedly rammed into one of the vehicles and exploded. It sent instant panic across the area as pictures/videos started going viral across social media. People started trying to contact their loved ones. Tragically, not all returned home to their families. The celebrities also reacted to the Otedola Bridge Fire.
Lagos State police spokesman, Chike Oti, said: “It is a black Thursday. I am personally not in a happy mood. The police and other agencies are on ground. So far, we have counted 67 vehicles burnt, while 10 persons were confirmed dead. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos command, is using this opportunity to advise tanker drivers to make safety equipment available in their operations.”

peterpsquare: “This has really been a trying week for Nigeria. We’ve barely gotten our heads and hearts round the unfortunate incidents in Plateau and Adamawa States, now this avoidable incident has claimed 9 lives including that of a child (so far confirmed).
Whilst I commend the first responders and joint rescue force (Fire Service, FRSC, LASEMA, RRS, LASTMA etc) on the scene, more needs to be done.
There has got to be a better way of transporting such flammable products. Please stay safe guys”
jidenna: “Between this petrol explosion, poverty ranking, Plateau killings, and World Cup loss, it’s been a turbulent week of headlines for Naija. I’m praying for Lagos and for the whole nation, not merely for God to look favorably on us, but for us to look favorably on ourselves”

If we only had a government that works! Why does it seem like we have been cursed with bad leadership? How’s a country so blessed with AMAZING humans so run down?!!! Ahhhhh!!! May the souls of the departed Rest In Peace. God please send comfort to the hurting and the wounded. I nor know again o! Nigeria matter tire person! I’m just so fed up of crying! This is too much na! How do we even function like this? Mehn! This is too damn much!!! Mcheeeeeeeeeewww”
cossyojiakor: “May the souls of the departed involved in the fire incident here in Lagos rest in perfect peace. And May the souls of the departed mothers and children massacred in their various villages rest in the blossom of God and may God give guidance to the northern governors to provide farm lands at a cheap rate and only give licence to cattle rearers that have enough lands to accommodate and rear their cows”
therealnazo: “My biggest anger in this matter is; nobody will pay for this, we will all go spiritual and pray to God for protection……. Some years ago, a fuel tank ran into a park in upper iweka onitsha, killed over 60 human beings( fathers brothers, mothers, sisters, husbands, children e.t.c) like chicken, the vise president visited the crash scene almost a month later and left and I ‘ve never heard that any of those families who lost their loved ones were compensated…NEVER!!! We need laws that actually work, we need to implement them, let these fuel tank companies pay when they hurt families…..I’m tired of praying for Nigeria”
timidakolo: “THE TRUTH IS THAT MANY OF THESE THINGS HAPPENING IN OUR COUNTRY CAN BE AVOIDED,FROM THE TRAILERS CARRYING CONTAINERS THAT HAVE NOTHING HOLDING THEM BACK INCASE OF POTHOLES ,TO TRUCKS THAT HAVE OUTLIVED THEIR DAYS STILL IN THE BUSINESS OF CARRYING PETROLEUM PRODUCTS ,TO BUSES WITHOUT BREAK LIGHTS OR BRAKES STILL CONVEYING PASSENGERS ,TO SAME BUSES LOADING PASSENGERS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND CAUSING TRAFFIC RIGHT IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC CONTROL OFFICERS AND POLICE OFFICERS .THESE ACCIDENTS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN BECAUSE WE DONT HOLD PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE/ACCOUNTABLE AND THE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD MAKE SURE THESE THINGS SHOULDN’T HAPPEN WILL STILL HAVE THEIR JOBS INTACT BY TOMORROW”
georginaonuoha: “2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Lord we know we have wronged you, we have watched our little ones murdered in cold blood and their spirits and souls cries to you for vengeance and justice.
Please lord forgive my country Nigeria it’s inequities. Suffer not the innocent and righteous for the affliction of the wicked and heal our land. For the sake of your kindness spare us the punishment we deserve as a nation.
Our comfort in sorrow as too many die for our sins. Do not turn your face away from us oh lord. Pardon us and heal our land. Raise up for us and our nation God fearing people who will lead us in part of peace. Lord we are weighed down, our strength in adversity and our comfort in sorrow. Forgive our land and nation Nigeria . From the snares of the evil one, oh lord deliver us and set us free. We have wronged you and our fellow humans deeply. Have mercy on us and tamper your justice with mercy. Lord we are sorry”
romangoddess: “15min drive from my house may their souls rest in peace”
